Every once in a while you meet a person who you know just lights up a room when she walks in. When I met Jodie, I immediately thought that she was one of those people. Jodie’s beautiful personality and vibrant smile are infectious, and I had so much fun laughing and exploring with Jodie as we did her bridal session. Now that Jodie is a married woman (!) I can share her gorgeous pictures with the world!

Mitch + Kylie ~ Wedding | Boise Wedding Photographer

I was honored to be a part of Kylie and Mitch’s wedding this past month. Close friends and family made a short trip to support Mitch and Kylie as they got married in the LDS Twin Falls Idaho Temple. It was a beautiful, hot, sunny day, and Kylie was just radiant. I was so impressed as I talked to her before the wedding. She walked so confidently, with no nerves or jitters, but with a peaceful look and a knowledge that she was headed towards becoming united with the man she loves. Mitch and Kylie, congratulations on beginning your new life together!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…the hardest thing about taking bridal pictures is having to wait until the wedding is over to post them! Kylie and Mitch were married in the LDS Twin Falls Idaho Temple this past weekend in a beautiful and touching ceremony, so now it’s safe to post her amazing pictures. Kylie and I decided it do a her shoot at sunset, and I think the lighting really helped capture her radiating glow. Congratulations, Kylie!

Zach + Alyssa ~ Engaged | Boise Wedding Photographer

My husband: “Zach’s got a girlfriend.”

Me: “Really? What is she like?”

My husband: “I haven’t met her yet, but I hear that she’s awesome.”

Beauty, brains, and a great sense of humor. That’s probably how I would describe Alyssa now that I’ve had the chance to get to know her better. Alyssa is one of those people who you meet, and spend a little time with, and you really feel like you’ve known them forever. We are so glad that she and Zach found each other. I can tell that married life for them will be full of love and lots of laughter.

Photographing Zach and Alyssa was almost too easy. Besides being photogenic, they are both creative and spontaneous, whether it was climbing in trees or swinging in the playground. We were this close (can you see my fingers?) to getting a “jumping-0ff-the-dock-into-the-water-with-your-clothes-on” picture, but we all had a Memorial Day party to go to, so that idea will have to wait for another day…

Eddie + Julia ~ Married | Boise Wedding Photographer

I love it when I can photograph two people who I just know are going to be great together. Eddie and Julia are two of those people. The smiles that they had as they came out of the Boise LDS Temple said it all. These two are a great fit. Eddie was grinning ear-to-ear (and he has a great radiating smile), and Julia was just glowing. They gave each other such tender glances throughout our session, and I was so glad to be there to capture their special moments.

Mitch + Kylie ~ Engaged | Boise Wedding Photographer

The first time I met Kylie I mean, heard Kylie, I was sitting in my boyfriend’s apartment. The word “boyfriend” should be the first clue that I’ve known Kylie for a long time. Back to the story — Spencer had this sneaky little thing he would do where he would introduce me to his cute little nieces and nephews and hope that their cuteness would make me like him more. I didn’t have any nieces or nephews of my own, so I admit, I was a sucker for hearing those little voices and seeing their sweet smiles. Spencer just “happened” to have a cassette tape (how old am I?) of his adorable nieces, Kylie and Shalese, singing songs for their uncle Spencer. Now I’ve heard a lot of children singing in my life, but I admit, when I heard 6-year-old Kylie and 4-year-old Shalese belting out those Pocahontas songs, I was sold. Soon they were “my” adorable nieces.

Now, that little 6-year-old is all grown up and finishing her reign as Miss Idaho (along with an exciting appearance at the Miss America Pageant). Her fiancee, Mitch, has been recruited to play basketball for the Utah State Aggies. Add to that their upcoming wedding at the LDS Twin Falls Temple, and I’d say that Mitch and Kylie have had one great year.

Our engagement session was so much fun. We had a beautiful day walking around downtown Eagle, Idaho, and Kylie was just glowing. I had so many favorites, it was hard to choose which ones to post:

You know if I’ve got a collegiate basketball player on my hands, I just have to make him jump. Thanks for humoring me, Mitch!

Maybe they can spark an idea or two as you plan your own unforgettable wedding day!

What to Wear ~ Boise Wedding Photographer

So, you have your engagement session scheduled, your wedding photographer is booked (hopefully me, if you are reading this blog ♥), and things are going along great. Then I get the same question from every bride I’ve ever worked with… “What should we wear to the engagement photo session?”. It is an important choice, and since your future children will be looking at these photos in 20 years and you don’t want to hear… “mom, what in the world were you thinking?!?!”… I have a few general rules to make you look fabulous:

~ Wear clothes that are complimentary in style and color. Don’t be too “matchy”. Find a color palette of 3-4 colors and work those colors into your outfit.

~ It’s great to pick more than one outfit. 2-3 changes of clothing can add variety to your photos. Layering clothing also adds variety and color.

~ Be Yourself. Make sure you love what you are wearing. You’re going to have these pictures a LONG time.

~ Avoid clothing with writing or large logos.

~ Your shoes/feet will be in some of the pictures. Make sure you love your shoes and they are clean. Sometimes we may go barefoot, so make sure any toenail polish is touched up.

~ Keep it simple. If one of you is wearing a pattern, have the other person wear a complimentary solid.

~ Unless you are going for a super-casual look, men might want to avoid wearing shorts.

~ Relax and plan on having a good time! Taking your engagement pictures will be fun and I’ll totally guide you through the process.

Eddie + Julia ~ Engaged | Boise Wedding Photography

Every relationship has a story. Love can be found anywhere, and now, more than ever, it can be found through your computer screen. Eddie and Julia met online, but I can tell their relationship is more than bits and bytes. They show such genuine affection for each other, and a radiating excitement for what is to come for them in just a few short weeks at the Boise LDS Temple.

After a long, cold winter, I was so glad to do this session out in the beautiful sunshine and blooming trees. Julia and Eddie were awesome in front of the camera. I love how they look at each other.

Gorgeous.
